Successful UTM Certificate Renewal Evaluation – DNV.GL

PHATECO is one of 03 companies in Vietnam that has a certificate of recognition for ship thickness measurement services (UTM) from DNV-GL (the most prestigious classification organization in the world today, headquartered in Oslo, Norway).

Currently, services related to this certificate are mainly provided by the KTHH Department and focus on thickness measurement, NDT of seagoing cargo ships and crude oil storage tanks at offshore oil fields in Vietnam.

On June 4, 2019, DNV.GL representative in Vietnam – Mr. Le Quang Vinh (Station Manager, Vung Tau Station) – had a meeting with PHATECO Company to periodically evaluate and renew the certificate.

As known, DNV.GL is a prestigious and long-standing classification organization in Europe, so the standards and requirements for service providers certified by them are also very strict and tight. The first requirement is that the facility must have an ISO 9001 quality management system, then the service provider must demonstrate that the system is still operating according to the established procedures and that these procedures must fully meet the requirements in the latest DNV.GL Code. Therefore, to maintain the system, the KTHH Department must regularly monitor and update the latest regulations in the DNV.GL Code issued for service providers in the NDT field, then amend the operating procedures to meet the requirements of the law.

At the end of the assessment, Mr. Le Quang Vinh highly appreciated PHATECO’s management system as well as its compliance, maintenance and improvement during operation. PHATECO has been granted a renewal certificate from June 4, 2019 to June 3, 2022 by DNV.GL.
