Equipment corrosion survey using PAUT technique at Phu My Fertilizer Plant

From May 18 to May 23, two technical staff of PHATECO Company and Engineer Nguyen Duc Hieu – ASNT NDT Level III and Engineer Pham Van Trung carried out a corrosion survey inspection project at Phu My Fertilizer Plant. The scope of work was to conduct corrosion survey inspection for CO₂ absorption equipment in the Ammonia technology zone using advanced phased array ultrasonic technology (PAUT).

After 3 days of hard work, they completed the data collection scan to build a corrosion map according to the customer’s requirements. Although the value is not large, this is the first project to apply the corrosion mapping method at Phu My Fertilizer Plant. From the scanned images, combined with software analysis, it was shown that some areas on the equipment were corroded. This result is very consistent with the customer’s previous survey results.

Although the working conditions were difficult and the time was tight, with careful preparation and a high sense of responsibility, they completed the project with good quality, meeting the customer’s needs.

This will be the premise for PHATECO to continue implementing similar projects with many other customers in the near future.
