Deploying UTM and PROFILE RT at Nghi Son Refinery

From August 24, 2016, along with the continued implementation of NDT package No. 1 – Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Project for the customer, the General Contractor – Joint Venture JCGS, PHATECO has received a new project, “Thickness inspection and radiographic profile inspection for the pipeline system of Nghi Son Refinery”. This is a project that PHATECO signed a contract with directly with the Investor, Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Company (NSRP).

Safety meeting before work implementation

The implementation of thickness measurement (UTM) and profile testing (Profile RT) of the pipeline system at Nghi Son Refinery aims to collect input data before putting the Plant into operation, expected in 2017. This data is meaningful for calculating the corrosion rate, inspection cycle, safety level, … of the entire pipeline system in the Plant.

As planned, the volume of Profile RT is about 300 films and there are about 700 UTM locations. The project is expected to be implemented within 03 months. Up to now, PHATECO has implemented 30% RT, 20% UTM.

Technicians are performing thickness measurement work

This is a project with very high safety requirements because during the RT process, the testing and pipe cleaning units also perform in parallel, each shooting shift has 2 NSRP supervisors accompanying PHATECO. Before each working shift, there must be a safety meeting, risk analysis, agreement on implementation methods, contact with contractors in the area, and notification of coordination methods.
