From January 18 to January 28, 2016, engineers Nguyen Van Tuong, Nguyen Duc Hieu, Trinh Van Viet, with the support of technicians, completed the TOFD ultrasonic maintenance inspection project for the BT502 cylindrical tank of the Idemitsu Dinh Vu Lubricant Plant for the customer, JFE Engineering Company (Japan).
This was a difficult project to implement because it had to be done through paint, thin corrugated iron, and the surface condition was very bad (skewed corrugated iron, many splashes and lumpy paint on the surface). In addition, the project implementation time was extremely harsh, windy and cold with rain, sometimes the outside temperature was only 3 – 4 degrees Celsius. But with the efforts of the whole team, with a high sense of responsibility, the project was successfully implemented, on time as required by the customer.
Although there were many unfavorable conditions for interpretation, with the experience and skills of implementing previous projects, the engineers also made relatively accurate assessments of the quality of the tank weld (compared with radiography). This will be the foundation for PHATECO to be able to carry out future maintenance inspection projects.
