The major maintenance project – DCSM (Defect Confirmation and Shutdown Maintenance) at Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant (NSRP) took place from October 20, 2019 to November 25, 2019. Although not receiving a direct NDT bid from NSRP, PHATECO signed contracts with main contractors such as Gia Quang Pha, JGC, PEC, Anh Phat, PTSC, PME to do the entire process assessment, welding, NDT, PWHT and Dry-out. To carry out a large volume of work in a short period of time, the construction site mobilized 25 heat treatment machines, with a total of nearly 60 personnel, of which 40 personnel were doing heat treatment at peak times.
Among the items PHATECO undertook, the most difficult and pressured progress item was the Dry-out item (heat-resistant concrete drying). PHATECO has performed Dry-out for 03 contractors: Gia Quang Phat/JGC, PEC and Anh Phat.
The largest is the Dry-out package for Heater at A800 (~20m2) Gia Quang Phat. Due to the very urgent implementation time (only within 03 days) and the large area in one drying, the Technical Department planned and formulated the construction plan from mid-2019 and carried out the preparation work from the end of October 2019. Thanks to the correct construction plan and good preparation work, this largest batch of concrete drying was completed on schedule as set by the customer, the concrete after acceptance gave good results and was highly appreciated by the customer.
In addition, DCSM – NSRP 2019 also marks an important milestone in PHATECO’s Dry-out implementation. This was the first time using a gas burner (LPG Burner) in Dry-out and it was applied to the expansion joint – PEC category. During the implementation of the PEC category, Mr. Nguyen Quang Sang introduced a number of technical improvements for Dry-out areas in narrow, difficult-to-access spaces such as Cyclone. These technical improvements have contributed to reducing preparation time, ensuring safety for people and equipment during the Dry-out process.
The success of Dry-out in the DCSM phase has clearly affirmed PHATECO’s ability to implement Dry-out projects at petrochemical refineries, building prestige and being the basis for PHATECO to sign many Dry-out contracts in the coming time.
Also in this DCSM phase, PHATECO continued to carry out the additional work of the Welding Phase 2 package in 2019 and ended the project with good results.
With the spirit of solidarity, the tireless efforts of the Nghi Son construction site staff and the strong support from leaders and managers, Nghi Son construction site has successfully implemented the NSRP project (DCSM phase 2019) ensuring SAFETY – QUALITY – PROGRESS – EFFICIENCY, creating PHATECO’s trust in NSRP as well as related contractors and partners.
